The Battle on Bay case competition is an exciting and challenging opportunity for students to take part in. The students learn to analyze real world financial cases and scenarios. These competitions also allow students to enhance their critical thinking and analytical skills. Students are then able to apply what they learn throughout the competition into their course work and careers.

This year on January 16th and 17th the Ryerson University Finance Society (RUFS) held their 7th annual Battle on Bay conference and case competition. There were 14 teams from universities all across Canada that took part in the conference and presented their cases in front of leading industry professionals. The theme of Battle on Bay this year was finance in mining. Participating teams and attendees had the opportunity to attend several related workshops.  They also enjoyed keynote speakers for both days from business leaders such as Ian Ball, President of Abitibi Royalties Inc. and Ernie Lalonde, Senior Vice-President, DBRS.

I would also like to encourage current and future students to look into the Battle on Bay and other great case competition opportunities. As a student who has competed in case competitions in the past I would recommend that you get involved as the benefits are endless! For more information about Battle on Bay Street click here. I would also recommend looking at the Ted Rogers School of Management Student Competitions page for other great opportunities.

We would also love to hear some of your great experiences as a TRSM Student! Share them with us in our comment section below, Facebook, or Twitter (@TRSMRyersonU)!
