Ted Rogers Co-op students have the opportunity to work at leading organizations in sectors ranging from healthcare and finance to property development and the public service. This allows them to gain valuable work experience and industry connections.
Here are what a few of our students had to say about their co-op experiences:
Daniela Poliszuk, Marketing Management
This summer, I had the privilege of working at SickKids Foundation as the Cause Marketing Co-op Student. With SickKids’ ambitious goal of raising $1.3 billion dollars to build a new hospital, fund research and provide better care for its patients, I was able to jump on two main fundraising campaigns that work towards this goal.
In my role, I learned a lot about executive multi-layered marketing campaigns as well as relationship management with our partners. I am utterly grateful for being in the Ted Rogers Co-op program because once I graduate, not only will I have a clearer view about what I like vs. what I dislike, but I will also be entering the
workforce with a breadth of experience in different industries and a competitive skillset which can’t be overlooked by employers.
Kiro Ghobrial, Business Technology Management
Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care
My co-op placement at the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care has been a great learning experience. I have excellent managers who provide great advice and have done a variety of work that has enhanced both my people and technical skills.
It is gratifying to know that the work I do has a real impact on Health Data staff and long-term care facilities. This includes creating a dashboard on Excel to provide insights on employee efficiency and ticket tracking to managers, and completing a Wiki on SharePoint to help the Data Maintenance staff assist with client support.
Overall, my work term has been a valuable experience. I owe a lot of my success to the Ted Rogers Co-op team for helping secure this position and teaching me the necessary skills to succeed.
Bryanna Edwards, Retail Management
At IBM, I worked within the Global Markets, Commercial Business Unit team. As a Sales Business Analyst, I gained immense responsibility from Day 1. From creating strategic plans based on data driven reports, to building and presenting proposals highlighting IT solutions to solve complex problems to C-suite clients, I had countless opportunities to be exposed to all areas of the business.
My co-op terms were a life-changing experience and I am looking forward to the next chapter in my full-time career as a Business Technology Analyst at one of the Big 4 companies.
